Known for its challenging hikes, the New Hope trails feature two main trails and a few offshoots guaranteed to please any outdoors lover. Secluded and peaceful, New Hope provides a beautiful escape from the crowds and your worries as you return to nature on your hike.
At 2.6 miles (4.2 km), The Blue Trail features ancient hardwood forests, overgrown ferns and gorgeous wildflowers as you go uphill and downhill through various terrain (300 ft, 91 m elevation) and explore various overlooks and watersides throughout Jordan Lake. The Blue Trail features 9 clustered back country camp sites with little ameneties that plunge the seasoned outdoorspeople into nature during their trip.
The Red Trail extends the Blue Trail (5.7 miles/ 9.2 km) and takes you higher elevation (606 ft/ 185 m) with the same foliage, less of Jordan Lake and breathtaking lookout points. The Southern Tip features 15 backcountry campsites overlooking some of the best views of Jordan Lake simultaneously plunging any visitors into the gorgeous national park nature.
The New Hope Boat Launch is larger than average with 6 boat ramps and 2 small vehicle launches. Small watercrafts such as kayaks and paddleboats can enjoy a quiet launch point at the southwest junction with the Haw River. With plenty of space, watercraft visitors will have an easier time launching from New Hope than any other site on Jordan Lake.
